TPO – Tree Preservation Order

What is a Tree Preservation Order?

Officially a tree preservation order is ‘A Tree Preservation Order is an order made by a local planning authority in England to protect specific trees, groups of trees or woodlands in the interests of amenity.’ There are different reasons a tree or group of trees can acquire a Tree Preservation order, the most common reasons include heritage and habitat concerns.

Why Choose Our Surrey and West Sussex Professional Tree Preservation Order Service?

Due to the specific nature of a tree preservation order, it is required by law that only British Standard 3998 qualified tree surgeons are allowed to work on a tree or trees with a tree preservation order. Southern Cross Tree Surgery are BS3998 certified and have a wealth of experience working with the rules and regulations that surround Tree preservation orders.

Only dead removal is allowed without consent from the council. Other reasons for working on or removing TPO trees with consent include disease heavy damage trees, and trees that are a danger to their surroundings. Application to the council is needed for any other work. We have experience of working closely with the local authority and work on applications on the customer’s behalf to achieve the customer’s aims. As well as local authorities we work with and consult other concerned parties including neighbours. Our knowledge and experience mean we have a high success rate of passing necessary work. All work regarding applications is done based on quotation acceptance. Quotations and assessments are free.
